Question: I host golf tournaments for employees and clients. What if I give tickets to them for drinks on the course?
Answer: Tickets are very problematic in that some people may not drink alcohol at all and give their tickets to those who do. Thus if you give 2 tickets to each person playing on the course, some could end up with 3, 4, or 5 and there is little way of knowing how much they have consumed on the course. The golf course does have the responsibility to track and monitor its guests as a commercial host, but as the host of a tournament, if you encourage consumption with free tickets, you are leaving yourself open for liability as well.
